The conference for people who code for libraries. An annual gathering of technologists from around the world, who largely work for and with libraries, archives, and museums and have a commitment to open technologies.
This self-study course from the Fiber Optics Association covers basic fiber optics. Intended for either those already working in fiber optics, or those just getting started, this course covers an introduction to fiber optics, how it's used in communications, how a fiber optic link transmits signals, components used in a fiber optic cable plant, how fiber optic cables are spliced and terminated, how to test a fiber optic cable plant or network, what's involved in designing a fiber optic network, and how fiber optic cable plants are installed. There are ten lessons in the course, and links to related videos and reference materials.
